Returning woodworker

Hello, from Pensacola, FL. I was here in 2013, but things got in the way and I basically quit all forums. Now, I may have more time and do some posting. I am sure I won't be frequent, but maybe, weekly. I own two of those Shopsmiths. Yes, you can have them when you pry my cold stiff fingers from around them. I started woodworking about 7 yeas ago with no formal instruction. I retired from Naval Air Station Pensacola as a programmer. Did dBase II, III+, Visual Basic, Microsoft Access and some Oracle. Didn't like the Microsoft apps all that much. Woodworking is very common sense and I love it. I have made anything that I think I can do with all the precision desired on my Shopsmiths. Both machines are the older 500 models. Maybe, someday, I'll get the new Mark 7 with the new electronic controlled motor. It's not so much the machine if set up and squared and maintained. It is the user. Anyway, will ask when I need help and will give help when I can. Hope to learn about you.

Your space is still available in this WW shop forum, and "thanks" for the re-intro. Be safe.

Thanks for the welcome. Will be posting pictures near the end of this upcoming project. First, have to go to the doctor to see if my lungs are going to allow me anymore woodworking. The first week of January this year, forgot to put on my respirator and cut a piece of Masonite. I didn't use the vacuum as I was outside, but no wind. Anyway, I was rushing as I had limited time. Then I did some sanding to ensure all the saw marks were not visible. One week later, I had a moderate case of bronchitis. I promise, you really don't want this. Going to the doc for a follow up. Remember, dust masks and dust collection in a machine, not your lungs. Be safe out there.
