Please help

I thought I would have an easy project taking an old wood door and making it a dining room table. Well I have a dilemma, the original shaker legs will not work and a trestle table base needs to be built. The bench I am using is an old church pew that is longer than the door. Unfortunately I just realized that a four legged table won't work. What I am needing are plans for a base, a friend is going to build for me but I need it to be simple and still look elegant so the antique door won't look like a thrift store reject. Any help would be appreciated because I am clueless and need a easy set of plans for my friend. The polular mechanics forum wasn't my taste where the plans were free. Please help!
Thanks Amy aka Clueless

Oh and I repurpose things, from antique cabinets to who knows what it was. I take junk and make it something you've gotta have in your house. This door project is for my personal home and any help is appreciated. I will post pictures when complete.
