Old New Guy in Missouri
After working for 46 years I will retire on March 1, 2012. I've been a life long woodworker however for the past 35 years I've not had much time for the hobby. After moving several times I never completely setup my tools or sometimes even had a shop to use them in. I hoping all of those problems will change with retirement.
My son and I have spent several weeks over the past 4 years rebuilding an old barn on my property. We've installed new metal siding, new windows, concrete floors, new wiring and removed all of the non-supporting interior beams. This has left me with a lot of 4"X6"X10' oak beams and a good amount of 1"X12"X10' pine. All of this wood is at least 72 years old. Previous projects include an addition to my home, building a small shop and a lot of remodeling. I am a big fan of Craftsman Style furniture & architecture.
I recently replaced my 30 year old TS with a new Steel City 3HP TS with extended table top. My daughter also gave me an early Christmas Present from Rockler; Rockler Cutoff Sled with Drop Table, a Woodcraft Box Joint Jig and some smaller tools. These are pictured in My Photos. Some of my other tools include a Rockwell 14" bandsaw, Rockwell jointer, Grizzly shaper, DeWalt 12" compound miter saw, Craftsman table mounted router and lots of hand tools.
I live in a rural area between Mexico & Columbia Missouri. I look forward to spending a lot of enjoyable time on this forum and also learning a great deal! A complete new set of kitchen cabinets will be my first project.
