Newbie intro

Hi all,

I'm new to the site and have really enjoyed reading some threads here. I'm constructing a small shop in my basement and came here looking for info and found plenty. I am 50 yrs. old and am removed from woodworking for 12 years. I worked at a pattern shop for 20 years where I was working with wood every day. I'm looking to have this as a hobby now and when I retire. My wife has big ideas for me but time is what I need more of. Glad I found this site!

Welcome to the forum! What kind of pattern shop were you in? Foundry? I worked for a while in a foundry as a young man back in the 70's. Always envied the guys in the pattern shop. They managed to stay reasonably clean

Thanks for the welcome guys!! I worked in a "Foundry" pattern shop. We had a very small aluminum foundry on site but the main work was done for other foundry's. We did a lot of work fo G.E. and Ingersoll Rand. I've been to a few foundry's in my travels and the pattern shop boys always stayed clean.
