New to woodworkingtalk - Greetings from Minnesota
This is Minnesota Marty. I am just on the north side of 60 years old. I have been in the Design/Build construction business for just about 25 years. Before that I worked in the construction field but always for a large company. I have recently decided to scale my company back in size and do more of the on-site work myself. I have also just finished building my last house for myself.
At my previous house I had a 24'x36' detached shop. But, the recession made that impractical to keep. So, we scaled back and we are glad we did. So, now I am doing more on my own and have re-ignited my love for pure woodworking. So, I am setting up a shop in the over sized 2 car garage with a 24' x 28' unfinished attic space for future shop use. I spent all day today sorting, building, tossing and "getting it together". I have reserved Saturday's for that. Kids are grown and wife goes to see her 89 year old mother on Saturday. So, it works great. I've got tools that won't quit. But, I need to get ones that fit in the space I have. I have started that process.
I like forums because I learn so much from guys that know more than I. I like to say, "the minute you think you have it figured out is the minute you are falling behind".
So, there is no end to knowledge. Glad to be here.
