New to woodworking (mostly)

Hello all. My name is Matt, and I am a Freshmen at NC State University studying Nuclear Engineering. As a kid, I always did little projects with my dad around the house, but nothing major. In November I took a two day intro woodturning class here at State and since then I have been hooked. I have mostly been making bowls, including one segmented, but I hope this Spring to start expanding my horizons into some hand carving and detailed joinery.

I have been watching this site closely and it's amazing to see how much knowledge and skill that many members possess judging by the quality of the projects I have seen so far. I hope to learn a lot more in the future!

- Matt

Welcome to the forum. Let's see some pics. Rule here is, no pics, it didn't really happen, so you haven't REALLY turned any bowls yet, have you?

You can never have too much pepperoni on your pizza or own too many clamps.

Thanks for all of the welcome everyone!

And on another note, bigcouger you live in my hometown! I grew up in St. Mary's GA for 12 years, and if I get into the NUPOC program with the Navy I will be headed there again in about 5 years. It's a small world!

Haha, I know that for sure. I came and visited over the summer and it was literally like I never left. The paper mill is still in shambles and Langs is still alive and thriving.
