New to the site
I'm Richard and I'm new to the site, but not to woodworking. I'm 31 years old and live near Little Rock, AR. My dad is a carpenter and I've been around woodworking all of my life.
I finished college a few years back and my degree's are all in chemistry. I currently work for a company as their chemical sourcing manager. With my job, I have to travel a couple of weeks a month, so my "shop time" has been limited lately.
In the past couple of years, I've been able to amass a few more woodworking tools and have taken on larger projects. I built all of the cabinets in our house a while back. They are all curly maple. It was quite the learning experience as I'd never built cabinets before. However, they turned out better than I expected. I built all of my own doors and dovetail drawer boxes as well.
I"m currently working on a baby bed for the new arrival we're expecting in June. I'm using a rough set of plans that I purchased online and modifying where I see fit. I am building the crib out of rift and quartered white oak. It's been a fun project so far, and has been a nice opportunity to use my new mortiser.
I'm looking forward to sharing photo's of my work, getting new ideas, and seeing what everyone else is working on.
