New Retiree with Time on His Hands

Just retired after 27 years in aerospace sitting at a computer 40 hours a week and behind the wheel commuting for another 20+ hours. Not much time for making sawdust.

After retiring I moved to Mt. Pleasant, UT, and it looks like Iím going to have some time to delve into this new hobby.

I took wood shop in the 60s and havenít done much since then. Now, as a result of my astronomy hobby I need to build a Denver viewing chair and a cart to move my 10Ē Dobsonian telescope around.

Oh, and she-who-must-be-obeyed expects me to replace the kitchen counter with a very simplified butcherís block sort of thing. Of course all this means I want to build a nice workbench.

From there, who knows what sort of things Iíll try to make? I certainly donít.

Hired by McDonnell-Douglas in '87 and then bought by Boeing in, what, '98? I bet your guess was correct!

Welcome here to this very friendly woodworking forum, where it is much like the universe - always room for one more and something new to discover. What ever you choose to make your sawdust, enjoy your stay, and be safe.

I used to drive concrete mixer right by the Everett plant. Hauled a metric crapload of concrete to that place. It's a wonder airfares are as cheap as they are after seeing what goes into building a plane.

I hate signatures.
