New from Northern Illinois

Hello. My name is Joel. I am 24 and have been involved in construction my whole life. I am wanting to perfect my woodworking skills and teach myself a little patience. So here I am. I live in Rockford IL. I just started with a few tools in my garage...table saw, router and table, a few sanders, biscuit joier, ect.. and a lathe(that I have no idea how to use yet). I look forward to good ideas from you guys, as well as good advice. Thanks

Welcome to wood talk, from Saint Charles, IL.

This is a great forum to learn from. I kind of wish I had your Lathe problem.... I have been hoping to find one on Craigslist, but haven't found one that has "jumped" out at me yet.

I used to be fairly indecisive, but now....... I'm not so sure.

I have all the fun tools. On the lathe get good tool's i don't mean from sears or HF store's Something like henry taylor sure they cost but they will do a good job. The problum with cheep tools the don't hold the edge and cut like crap. and than you get discurage and quit. I have had my delta for around 20 yrs and have good tool's and i get good results. I used to live in galesburg and have been to rockford many time's. I been in fla for 35 yrs now and don't miss the snow. good luck on the shop
