Hi all! I am not necessarily new to woodworking but certainly new to this forum. I am retired USAF and have been working with wood off and on over the last thirty some years and had to sell a lot of tools before my last overseas deployment.
Recently the wife and I were talking about our past and she asked why I don't get back into woodworking, so, I have recently started to collect some tools at some remarkable prices! Perhaps I'll post a thread on that later.
At any rate, we now live in Missouri where I'm pretty sure we'll stay for the rest of the time we have here on God's green Earth. We have four (sometimes great) kids ranging from 13 to 23 along with Heidi the Himalayan cat and Grace, the boxer. I am a 1993 graduate of the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) working as a VoIP systems design engineer as well as a conservative evangelical Christian pastor.
To date, my projects have been mostly small furniture items (bedside tables, book cases, etc.), a few gift items (jewelry boxes and toys) as well as some speakers and stands. A lot of what I've been doing is restoration work for a lot of the "old furniture" my wife seems to drag home up to and including an upright piano!
I'm hoping to get into some larger projects for the house so we can replace old and cheaper stuff like our entertainment center, a couple of desks for the kids and our own bed. For now, I'm just remembering how it all works by starting small with a new mantle clock I'll make out of walnut.
Well, that's about it for now.
