New guy in Kansas City

Boy am I glad to have found this. I'm in the process of remodeling my master bedroom, and have a couple DIY projects I want to try. I'm pretty handy, have plenty of standard tools, and really enjoy when I get a chance to use them. But I'm by all means, a beginner. The last project I built was this small shelf (below) for my wife. She didn't want a desk, she prefers to work from the kitchen table, but needed a place to keep all her laptop and papers and such.

By day I'm a programmer. But my main hobby is pinball. I buy, sell, trade, and collect pinball machines. I also repair and restore them. They're great because they're a wonderful mix of mechanics, electronics, and artwork. Not to mention, a game that you can play when it's all done!

Hi Michael, welcome!! I visited your fair city for the first time this past June when I helped move my niece and her husband to Olathe. Good BBQ! That's a handsome shelving unit you built, and I too would like to see your pinball machines. Used to love to play!

Everyone only cares about my pinball machines. SWEET! :)

I'm at work, so don't have the best pics readily available, but here are a few. I currently have 22 machines in the house in all manner of condition. My wife said we should make the formal living room my game room, and I didn't argue, so there are 7 pinballs and one sit down racing game (Rush the Rock). Then in the basement I've got project games of my own, some that I'm working on for other people, and some that I'm storing for a buddy that needed the extra space. Of the 22 in the house, 16 of them are mine.

Also, in one of these pictures, you'll also see my son wearing his rubber boots and standing on the bench I made for him. It works as both a stool for playing pinball, as well as a little chair and it's shaped to look like an old Galaga machine. I would have done it as a Pac-Man. the shape would be the same, but the art would have been more complicated.

Welcome aboard neighbor!

You do realize that this is a woodworking forum and all those pinball machines are taking up potential shop space, right? (just kidding)
