New to the forum from Fremont, CA

Hi, my name is Bert and I woodwork as a hobby... in Fremont, CA a suburb of San Francisco Bay Area

My shop is less than half of a two car garage.

Anyway, I have been interested in woodworking since I watched Norm on New Yankee, in the 90s... But didn't start making sawdust til a few years ago, 2005 when I started off building and selling a few poker tables, with a jig saw, then upgraded to a router.

I have 3 of the 4 primary big power tools;
a Delta contractor saw (bought new from Lowes on clearance, after buying and selling 2 other used saws and a benchtop),
a Grizzly 6" jointer (I bought for $25 on Craigslist and just light rust on the tables),
and a Rigid 13" 4550 planer from HD ,
I also have a benchtop drill press.

I have the tools but low on the materials or funds to make sawdust.

I have been going back and forth with what to make. It seems more like shop furniture is what I have been making with what few scraps I have.

I just found this forum through google, while searching for instructions on how to use a jointer. I seems to make it bow into the middle of the board.

Welcome from Texas !!!

Welcome to the forum.

Looks like you have a good start on the tool collection.

If funds are an issue when buying wood, check out the local places that get things shipped in on pallets/crates. You can find a decent amound of lumber for small projects in those items.

Tools are like guns, You can never have enough.
Where did I put that tape measure???

Welcome Bert. You're shop is about the same size as mine. I also have the 4550, just bought it in January. Does a pretty nice job. Oh, and that's a ridiculously super price on that jointer! I just changed the knives in mine last night for the first time. What a mind-numbing, frustrating treat that was !
