Hello all,

I signed up to ask a very simple question besides Baltic Birch, is there another ply-wood that might be lighter and just as sturdy?

I ask because I am building a sub woofer enclosure for my 94 Dodge Stealth R/T twin turbo.

Normally a enclosure of this nature would just be built with 3/4" MDF but to to weigh being a concern and that I am only running 8" sub woofers I am looking to build this one with 1/2" birch.

If there is a lighter ply-wood out there I would love to read about it.

Thank you for your time,

Welcome from Texas !!!

Welcome to the forum.

I myself have not made speaker boxes as of yet so I will not be able to assist.
There is a thread on this site for speaker boxes. Try a search and see what pops up.

Tools are like guns, You can never have enough.
Where did I put that tape measure???

MDF is the best thing to use. Maybe you can use 1/2 MDF to cut the weight.
