Post Let me introduce myself

Hi there,

I just joined this forum but I've been reading some threads for awhile. Great site. I have been a wanna be woodworker since I was about 10 yrs old. At about 40 I finally took a cabinet making course at a local college at night. I surprised myself by completing the program and graduating with a certificate after a couple of years. I loved every mniute of it and 10 years later I have a fully equipped workshop and I am turning bowls, making the odd piece of furniture and trying new things every chance I get. In addition I decided to start blogging about woodworking in my free time. Check it out and www.woodworkingtipsforwomen.com and let me know what you think! I need feedback!

Hello and welcome Deb,

I checked out your blog and really like your work.

I share your interest in using reclaimed materials as do many others here.

Another great source are shipping pallets. You can find our previous discussions on this subject by searching using the keyword "pallets".

You'll find cool projects that members have done, methods of processing the pallets and a good dose of inspiration to boot.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my grandfather did in his
sleep. Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you.

A couple things to remember

1. When asking questions if you need help. Please be specific withe details and use pictures if possible. It helps get better answers and we like pictures.

2. We like pictures. Please post pictures of your work when you can. We ave two places for them the "Project Showcase" section and your albums. You can use both. Details about type wood etc are very helpful.

Personally I like to look through albums, especially when I see something that interest me in the Project Showcase section. I will look at other things that person has made.

I used to work for a company who had a warehouse as part of the business. One day I was walking through and discovered that they were setting aside old pallets made of hardwoods! Thankfully a wood worker worked in that warehouse and he was saving them. I was so jealous!
