I am a hobby knifemaker. I do a lot more work with metal than with wood. I came to this forum about a year ago for some help with drilling a long hole through the full length of a knife handle. I am back again for more help. I just posted a few minutes ago on the general topics page about sawing 1/4" strips from a 2" x 2" x 18" long piece of cocobolo. The reason I am posting here is in an attempt to give back something to your community. I know only a small bit about woodworking but I do have experience with heat treating steel, sharpening blades and cutting and drilling steel. I would be honored to be of any help to any of the members of this community. You have helped me and for that I am grateful. I am also a civil engineer and a retriever dog trainer too. Oh yeah and a motorcycle rider and a Viet Nam vet - if any of that helps. Thank you all. Nicholas Jasper

First of all, THANK YOU!! for your service to our country.

what kind of dogs? duck or upland? either one is fun, I've aways been partial to Labs and duck hunting, but any kind of bird hunting is fun

Welcome Nicholas, glad you decided to join us. We can always use a metal smith to bounce things off of!

I see that you do 1000 yard shooting, the farthest we shoot is 500, would be nice to have a longer range, but then again we just go out with our deer rifles, nothing set up other than factory stuff, still fun to blow up a beer can full of water at 500 though
