Hello everyone name here is David. I'm in Southwest Michigan and have a small garage hobby shop. I stumbled accross this site because I have found the interenet to be a great place for advice on projects I am working on or considering. Thanks for everyone that has posted so much valuable information here for the hobbyist to draw from.

I caught the bug about 5 years ago when I owned a circular saw and a battery powered drill. It's amazing some of the projects that could be accomplished with just some basic tools. Of course I quickly began wanted more and more tools and have been building a shop ever since.

Some of my projects are household related as we bought a foreclosed home last year and are fixing up. For example replacing interior doors with six panel doors is an ongoing project. (not making the doors, but buying blanks, sizing and createding the mortises for the hinges and locksets and finishing). Also replacing a lot of trim that was either badley painted or chewed by previous owner's dogs.

I also like to make some larger pieces. I buit some adirondack chairs a few years ago as a gift for my mother-in-laws 50th birthday/Christmas, I built two tables and eight benches for the local Boy Scout camp and I am in the process of building a toddler bed for our neice. These are just some examples of things that interest me. And, with every project I learn something new!

Anyway I look forward from learning more from the rest of the crew and I'll try to do some sharing of my own along the way!

Hi David...The guys up there are pretty smart, and there are a lot more smart guys hangin' out here. Me, I'm just a groupie, but I do have a pretty good history with power tools.
