New here and new to woodworking.
My first lathe just arrived and after some sad and rather eventful attempts at doing something with it, I thought it may be a good idea to find people who know what they're doing.

About me -

I live in China with my wife and daughter though I spent most of my life in New York and Florida
Finding people here who know anything about turning or woodworking in general is pretty much impossible. My Chinese is not up to the task and the culture is so...... different.

I'll most certainly have a bunch of questions to ask, so apologies in advance.

Anyway....Hello from China!

Welcome! Another great source for wood turning is www.woodturner.org. The American Association of Woodturners (AAW) has members all over the globe. I have to open the line in a New Private Window- right click on the link.

hello and welcome aboard as well.
what part of China are you in ?
my wife is from Sichuan and Chengdu but spent most
of her adult life in the Shenzhen industrial area for work.
we will be going back there at the end of January for a couple
of months to visit my wife's family during the Spring Festival.

I'm in Qingdao. A bit far from where you'll be. If you happen to make it up north a bit, the drinks are on me!
