Iowa newbie

Hello from Iowa.

Just call me Woody, little easier than the whole screen name.

I'm a lumber inspector at a large sawmill in Iowa. I've been able to do just about every thing in the mill. We saw roughly 100mbf a week depending on what we are sawing, condition of the logs etc.

I also own a Wood-Mizer LT30HDG24. Rescued it and have been refurbishing it as time and funds allow.

I have always had an interest in woodworking and recently purchased some used tools. This will be a new journey so we'll see how it goes.

I enjoy lumber with some sort of character, weather it is worm holes, mineral streaks, spalt or anything in between.

I guess that is my little blurp and I look forward to hanging around and learning.

Woody

Thanks for the Welcomes!

As with any job, the sawmill has its ups and downs.

I'm interested in a little bit of everything but right now I'm going to start working on making some bowls with my router.

Might dabble a little bit in the rustic/log aspect of it as well.

Figured I'd better start with some small scale things and work my way up.
