Introduction: Loren in Buffalo, NY Moving to Utah soon

Being a home owner for nearly 40 years calls for some hanyman knowledge. In early 1990 I took up the project of building a roll top desk. I viewed it as a series of small projects strung together. Then it happened, heart trouble struck and I couldn't do anything for over a decade. Finished the roll top last year. My passion is Mission Style furniture. Have built two night stands, a Hall Bench, and am currently building a set of dining room chairs and will build the table after moving. I consider myself an intermediate woodworker improving all the time. Many have shared with me and made woodworking a rich experience. Met a man legally blind who is an incredible woodworker and he has taught me so much I call him "The Professor!" I'll figure out how to post pictures and put some out there. There are many accomplished woodworkers on this forum, intimidating on one hand, a great resource on the other. Good Luck to all, and safe woodworking!

Welcome, Skowcars, we have a good bunch of guys and gals on this forum - and many of them are excellent woodworkers, always ready with a helpful suggestion. I, also like the mission-style furniture. I've built a few mission-style pieces thinking the clean, straight lines would be fairly easy. I quickly found that making wood straight and flat is a lot tougher than it looks. I'd like to see some pics of the desk and especially those chairs your working on. I've been afraid to try dining room chairs and welcome some pointers.
