Hot maple

I am in the process of building a new workbench. Right now I am dressing the lumber - 2" soft maple boards.
Every time I rip a part, my smoke alarm goes off (right after the piece is ripped).
Yes, there are mild burn marks. I have freshly aligned the table saw, given the rip fence a 0.004" toe-out and using a brand new 10" Freud Thin-Kerf Fusion Multi-Purpose blade. Am I feeding to fast or too slow?

Too slow makes the burn but your Saw may not handle 2" Maple any faster.
Try lowering the blade to 1" for the first cut and make two cuts to complete. This might stop the smoke.

If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it over?
