Hi from Shreveport, La

My name is Roy, and I'm from Shreveport, La. I'm new to this site. It looks like a great place to be able to ask questions and share some of my experience. I love a good project, and I have many projects in mind. Iíve done a lot of home remodeling through the years, and some small furniture projects. I want to learn more about fine furniture building and Iím adding tools to my shop and organizing for this purpose. I'm currently setting up a workshop in my garage, and working on a dresser for my daughterís room. I bought this dresser from a listing on craigs list. It is a 1950's Broyhill (I found that out while stripping. found the date stamped behind the mirror) I have chemically stripped the dresser and Iím starting the light sanding process. I have many questions on the finishing that I will post in the appropriate forum.

Welcome Roy, glad to have you with us. That dresser is coming along great! I'm sure it will give your daughter many, many more years of service. Fire away with the questions. There are lots of knowledgeable folks here (present company excluded!) who can answer just about any question under the sun!

Hey, welcome aboard. That looks like an impressive job of stripping.

Welcome,
Those pictures bring back bad memories from when I was just married and starving. I stripped furniture on the side. Lord willing, I will never have to strip another piece. Your work looks good. It is always worth the effort...l(when it's done).

yeah, stripping furniture is not my favorite thing to do either, but the dresser's style has promise. If I can get this piece to turn out really nice3 then i'll look for the matching pieces so that i'll have a full set.
