HI from Florida

Hey everybody - just posting my introduction and a little bit about me :)

It's a really long story that I won't bore you with, but basically one hobby led to another that led to another that's now led to woodworking. Along the way I've built my own CNC machine (2 actually) and acquired a Shopsmith Mark VII and a slew of other tools, none of them "pro" tools... I have a 10" table saw, and small router table, various jig saws, a chop saw, and such

One thing I want to do is build a "Ultimate Tool Bench" that has my table saw on one end (using the table for the out feed) and in the middle a chop saw well, and on the other side of that the router table, and storage and maybe even drawers on the end :) I've got it all drawn out in Sketchup but I keep redoing things here and there and think I might want to build it out of 2X4s rather than MDF, but that's probably deserving of it's own thread :)

anyway if you're interested I've got a bunch of pictures and videos of all my hobbies at http://www.backyardworkshop.com

Thanks and I'll be posting! :)

Jamie

Welcome to the forum. You're obviously a man of many talents.

Thanks Paul!

I just visited your site and realized I've been there before - my wife and I spent hours looking at all the types of wood you have pictures of :) oh and bowls are awesome!

Neat stuff on your site! I'm particularly intrigued by the ShopSmith metal lathe conversion... I've been intermittently watching Craigslist for a ShopSmith in my area with the idea of doing something similar. It's not something I'd need often enough to buy a purpose-built metal lathe, but every once in a while it would be useful.

If you have an opportunity to get one of the Shopsmiths with two bearings on the quill then that would me more than sufficient for working metal - mine only has one bearing and it works, but it does wobble just a bit if I try to take too much at one time :)
