Smile Hi Everyone!

I am a total noobie when it comes to wood working. I just joined my local woodworking club this week in Charlotte, NC and my first project is building a new table top for a danish modern set my grandparents bought in the 60's. I'm really happy to have found this site because I have no clue about anything woodworking related.

My grandfather and my 99 year old Great Grandfather are both woodworkers and cabinet makers so hopefully some of that will rub off on me. Great to meet everyone!

good for you!

My "free advice".... get this book first and understand the properties of wood before you go any further. It will save you many headaches later.

Then get some advice from your family as to what tools you wiil need or need to "borrow' ... sympathy goes a long way....

Then make You Tube your companion for a few hours per day. Look for videos by The Wood Whisperer, thintz, izzy swan, Askwoodman, .....

Learn how to select the best wood for the project:

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

Wow, a woodworker club - what a great idea - wish there was one near me.

And you have experts in the family - good for you - I'm jealous... LOL
