Hi everyone!

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum. I grew up with a wood working father and his passion rubbed off on me. As an adult I am now really getting into woodworking. I'm still definitely amateur though. Mostly I like to build stuff that my wife requests. I have a 6 month old girl and a new band saw so now I'm starting to make toys. Im in the Army stationed in GA right now. Anyways, I'm looking forward to gaining some excellent knowledge from everyone here. The photo I attached was my latest accent table build (requested by the wife of course)

Welcome and you have my respect (from a fellow vet).
Nice piece , by the way. Love the coloring.

Likewise I grew up with my grandfather and my dad both working wood. My grandfather was flat out a master woodworker, my dad does some but is a decoy carver, and won many show ribbons. So I come along, born in Detroit and my genetics lost a chromosone or something, and I started restoring cars, but did choose a job as an architect and did some construction along the way.
As of late, my interests have turned to building furniture and at age 57, I'm a late starter. Luckily my design background is giving me a head start but working fine joinery? Fuhgedaboutit ! I work with rough cut damaged logs and log cuts.
The last thing I want to do is join edges together. No Norm Abrahms here. No fancy tools or massive shop for wood. Chain saw/grinder/da sander/chisels/sandpaper. I work with little more than that.

Wood and cars ! Mostly cars (sorry guys....still some genetic damage)
