Hey all

This looks like a decent forum for woodworkers, and I happen to be passionate about wood, especially beautiful wood grain.

The name Grain Man is of course a take off of Rain Man.
I sort of see myself as a combination of Jim from Taxi, and Rain Man as I'm not quite sure where I get my ideas from

I'm a guitarist, trying to collect enough woodworking equipment to eventually be able to work on my guitars.

I'm going to be making a few tools along the way, as well as buying regular tools.

I've recently purchased a Milwaukee 5625 router for the custom portable router table that I've just about got completed.

If it wasn't so hard, I'd sleep with a block of Brazilian Rosewood under my pillow.

Welcome aboard G-Man!

Welcome, I have sen a few shows about people that make acustic guitars. That is a special craft of it's own. Not a guitar player but I wouldn't mind trying it one day.

Welcome Grain man. I've gotta say that you picked a couple of odd characters to describe yourself. The mental picture is almost to much to handle. A tall skinny guy with scruffy hair and permanent 12 o'clock shadow who has a wicked memory and helps his brother cheat at cards. Definitely the queen, definitely the queen. I don't know if I should be scared or in awe.
Looking forward to seeing some of your work.
Ken

There is a very fine line between a "hobby" and a "mental illness"

You wouldn't believe how close that is to me.

I should be wrapping my router table up sometime this week, and i'll post pics here.

It's a folding portable table that I decided to make because space is severely limited where I currently live. I definitely did some unique things with it.
