Hello from so cal.

Hello all. Most people call me topher. I just started working with wood actually.Been about 1 month now. I am recently laid off like most and I had been swindled into building a gate for my father and I was hooked from there. From there i've dove in head first and decided to make a chess board out of all walnut with interchanging grain to separate the squares.. needless to say it was a bit of a learning curve for me but still working on it and enjoying immensely . My background is mostly working on cars and doing wiring so this was a good jump for me and look forward to picking everyones brain and learning the most i can

weclome and good luck with your new found job/hobby. I'm back to woodworking after 35 years in construction. My chair took Honorable Mention at the Orange Co. Fair this year. First time I entered anything.

I do have pics. I started a new chair this past week. I plan on showing my progress. Just realized I didn't say what kind of chair. A rocking chair inspired by Sam Maloof. I make a few twists and turns to the style but it's Sam's joints that make it fun. I've had others interested in building a chair so decided to add pics as I go. I will finish the headrest glue up on Monday or Tuesday so will post a bunch of pics then.
