Red face hello from raleigh NC

just saying hello!

lurker for maybe 6 years just now joined.

i am aspiring to get into carpentry and wood-working tho i'm a burnout computer programmer by day *sigh.

i'm glad i joined to maybe contribute some or maybe get insights from veterans here.

now if only i can find some carpentry schools in raleigh besides the online schools.

i do wonder if online carpentry schools are good tho, not necessarily 'hands-on' i imagine.

i hope to build some cabinets soon.

good day!

evasyar.

Welcome, you'll find a lot of good information here.

Use to party in Raleigh (40 years ago). Grew up in Rocky Mount. The good old days.

Enjoy the forum, I know I do

Eva,
Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy it here. Do you have any woodworking clubs or a woodcraft store near you? That would be a good way to get some hands on experience. Check your local vocational schools.

The good old days in Raleigh ended in 1958 when I graduated NC State and started 23 years in the Air Force.

Welcome Evaseyar. Lot of good information on here.

I would have my doubts about online schools.

hey firehawkmph thx for the tip!

vocational schools are unfortunately outside of raleigh and they are all a haul to get there for classes.

however there is a woodcraft chain store local to raleigh that do offer wood work 101s and some other tools 101s and other classes. yeah i agree i should start with those to get hands on experience.

georgec - yeah i figure as much about those online schools, wife told me i should get hands on experience and those schools like penn foster might not do me justice. thx for tips.
