Hello from Pittsburgh

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jeff and I'm almost done with my Fundamentals of Woodworking class, taught by Dante DiIanni over at GNA Woodworking in Pittsburgh (my adopted home town). I am absolutely loving the course and can't wait to jump into the craft.

I currently don't have a full blown shop set up, but I do have a reasonable basement, a bunch of hand tools (some Lie-Nielson planes thanks to a generous gift from my brother), and not much else. My wife is very encouraging of this new hobby and is letting me build up my shop as needed. I suspect that the promise of hand made furniture doesn't hurt :)

Anyway, I'm excited to be part of this community and hope that over time I can go from asking lots of questions to answering them. For now, I can use all the help I can get.

-Jeff

Like a beautiful rose or rare orchid you must carefully cultivate and nurture this quality because it can disappear quickly. Start your adventure by making her something. Doesn't have to be overly elaborate. A simple box for knick-knacks, or a cutting board. Something like that. Then she'll be more likely to look the other way when you drag home that new lathe or drill press.

Way ahead of you. I don't have the tools at home, but the shop I'm taking classes at lets me rent time and I was planning on making something like this: http://www.woodworkingtalk.com/f13/j...x-redux-19897/
