Hello from North Dakota
I've been lurking around for a while, and figured I should probably start posting, even though I'm more of a lurker by nature when it comes to forums.
My wife, two month old son, and I live in North Dakota, about an hour from Fargo. I recently discovered a very good place to buy domestic and exotic hardwoods just over the border into Minnesota, a little over an hour from where I live. They sell everything S3S, and for very reasonable prices, which is good because I'm still saving up to buy a table saw and hope to do so by the end of 2013 - though I'll be borrowing a portable one from a friend to work on some projects soon.
It's been pretty mild so far this winter, but we're bracing for highs the next couple days that won't even get to 0. On account of our extreme winters, and that we have a one car uninsulated garage that houses a car, I've got my workshop set up in a corner of our basement. It's not much of a workshop yet, but I'm slowly adding to it as money allows.
I grew up in my dad's garage and am capable of doing a lot of different things (though a master of none.) Grew up helping dad fix cars, remodel the house, build wooden boats, and lots of other things. It wore off on me and now I enjoy woodworking as a hobby. I've been finding that I really enjoy making furniture and similar items, so that's kind of the direction I've been going with any projects I've been working on and currently have lined up.
