Hello from Los Angeles
Believe it or not, I just found this forum a few minutes ago.
I've been working with wood since I was 17 in high school... small bits of turnery, decorative work, etc. Well, it's a good skill to have, because when my mother passed away in October '07, I inherited her house in Culver City, which was built back in '47. The place has some termite damage in the door jambs and windowsills, but fortunately I'm able to do a lot of the repair work myself, and I have a couple of sources of free lumber (but that's for another thread in another part of the forum). I'd go broke if I had to hire a contractor to do all this work! Also sorted through a lot of tools and things which were stored in the garage, built a couple of work tables and attached them to the walls, with tracks underneath for storage boxes which slide in and out, drawer-style. Am working hard to make it a home sweet home... the table saw and board planer are getting plenty of use.
