Hello from the Gulf.

Just a quick hello. I am currently working offshore . Back home I have been putting together my FIRST woodworking shop. I have had multi-purpose garages in the past but have finally succeeded in getting my "dream house ( and shop)" last month. With a 1500+sq.ft shop, I should have plenty of space to fulfill my tinkerings, motorcycle addiction and finally wood shop space. I have always dreamed of furnishing a house with my own creations. Now that I am on track to do this, I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to get in touch with a few Joes (or Janes) who have current practicle experience. My trade skill set is Electronics Tech; so as you can probably correctly guess, I have very little experience with REAL wood working. I have accumulated quite a few tools that have been collecting dust over the years (not sawdust unfortunately). A lot has changed since my last wood shop class in school 25 years ago. I suspect the basics have not. All I do know is that I LOVED every minute of it back then. I am going to keep it simple. My first project will be a simple work bench with sawhorses and then I will progress from there. I have a few DIY books that I have gone through. I would like to shout out and say hello to you all. I think that this will finally be a hobby that pays off in the end with useful results. I've very excited to get started.
Thank you all in advance,

Howdy Will

I'm in Washington State but my daughter and her family are in Lafayette, LA and my Son-in-Law works off shore. My daughter is a woodworker.
