Hello from Detroit!!

New to the fourm. From Detroit - lived in Memphis for a time and back recently to Detroit. Engineer by education and trade - woodworker for fun and to fulfill my wife whims and dreams, lol!! Currently layong out a new shp in the Basement (a Michigan garage is TOO cold 8 months out of the year). Will post a pic of the plan and hope some of you can provide me with tips on tool locations and the like before I start hammering.

Oh...name is Bill

Hey Bluenote Welcome

I'm from Northern Oakland Co, so we're almost neighbors!
The name Bluenote, is the same as jazz hall/night club in downtown Chicago years ago where I saw Louis Armstrong, big Bill Brunsy, and Duke Elllngton when I was a kid.
I like the blues also if that's what you're into. Took some blues lessons years back. Anyway, glad to see you're here asking for advice! Also ...bill

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specific. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo that illustrates your issue. (:< D)

Hey metro-Detroit pals... I'm located in Ferndale. Plotting daily when we'll be moving out NW a ways, maybe Fenton, for some acreage, a basement, and a pole barn! Its the simple things you miss living in the city

Anyways, trying to share with some locals who would appreciate this: http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/for/2091586227.html don't know the guy but stopped there yesterday to pick up several slabs of maple for a butcher's block. Its insanely cheap and great quality. If you think you might have a need for this stuff anytime in the future give them a shout, a whole warehouse full of wood from custom pool tables that is going out of business!
