Hello from Colorado

I've been busy with a science based forum for a year or so, then I joined a diesel forum, when I had problems with my truck. It just dawned on me that I should check out wood working forums, because I might be able to contribute more.

I started in remodeling, as a laborer and carpenter's helper. Then went into framing. Became a framing contractor. Then became really interested in timber framing. I built a shop, then built my house, on which I hand cut all the joints, then built my own insulated structural panels. I built all the windows out of scrap timber, which I milled down, the doors and the cabinets.

Turned the shop into a cabinet shop. Now most of my work is in custom cabinets. This all started about 18 years ago, from laborer to present, but I first ran a circular saw when I was five years old, and my grandfather let me use his wood shop while I grew up.

Thanks for reading.

Glad you found us. It would be nice to have a TFer who is also active, I don't believe we have any. I have built a lot of P&B structures using ERC, but that's not a species well suited to handle much tension so only have limited TF experience using only the most basic joints. I've framed some single bent clear spans for our home using Loblolly pine but no entire frames.

Welcome to the forum hope to see you around.

What took you so long? Welcome aboard!!!

There is a very fine line between a "hobby" and a "mental illness"

I updated some of my profile stuff. Hopefully I didn't rub anyone the wrong way by not having the profile filled out, and with my odd sense of humor.
