Hello from Austin, TX

Hi all,

I am new to the site and new to woodworking. I have wanted to start woodworking for years, but have only recently been able to do so.

My driving passion is to be a luthier someday, building hand crafted concert classical guitars in the Spanish tradition. I also have an affinity for fine furniture and heirloom pieces.

So far, I have acquired a minimal set of tools and built a rock solid workbench based on this article:

http://americanwoodworker.com/blogs/...workbench.aspx

I hope to learn a lot from folks here and hopefully contribute something useful from time to time.

Welcome Steve. Your aspirations are high, and with persistence you can achieve them. I love listening to a good Spanish guitarist. Do you also play?

I do play classical guitar - I have had an abiding passion for the instrument, it's music, design, and construction for many years.

I also enjoy Flamenco guitar music, but in a different way than classical.

I know that my goal is indeed lofty - luthiery is the epitome of fine woodworking and I suspect I'll spend years in pursuit of this goal.
