Hello from Arkansas

Hey guys, my name is Brandon and about a year ago, the woodworking bug bit me hard. I have since turned my 3rd garage bay into my own little woodshop. My hot wife tells people that it's the first hobby I have ever had that she also benefits from because I make her stuff all of the time just so I can make sawdust.

I started from scratch a year ago and have collected quite a few tools. Mostly power tools (still would like to get a bandsaw and a lathe) but I'm starting to eyeball handtools, too. Specifically, different planes.

My next project is to build a record cabinet for our vinyl record collection and turntable. I've started buying the wood for it but need to buy some lumber for the frame so I can get started.

Anyway, super excited to be here and to learn from all of you!

Welcome to the forum, Brandon! What part of AR? We're in NW LA so not far from AR. We're looking forward to seeing your projects and your participation in discussions.

David

I have family there, Rogers, and towards Fayetteville. I lived in Centerton and went back to Active Army in July 2000. I ended up retiring from the Army and Live in Colorado Springs, CO. We are eventually moving to Kansas City Area to be closer to family. Bentonville has grown a ton since I have been gone.

So, I actually live in Centerton. Been here for 14 years but I grew up in Bentonville. Small world!

Most importantly, thank you for serving our country!

I use to live across the park and Old Fire Department. Maybe next time we are in town, we can meet.

I would like that, just getting the time will be the challenge. We are becoming 1st time Grandparents in April. Wife and daughter will
be taking the 1st trip this summer. I might be heading that way in October, depending on son's vacation time.:vs_laugh:

Welcome to the forum.
I went to seminary with a lady from Arkansas. We were at a professor's home for an informal gathering when she asked if anyone knew how Arkansas came into being. We replied, No. She said in the early 1800s, there was a sign on the Mississippi River that had an arrow and said, This way to Texas. The people who could read went to Texas and those who couldn't read stayed in Arkansas.

Hi and welcome! Everyone here likes to see photos of projects. I hope you share some of your projects with us.

I have a couple of Arkansas stones for sharpening. Does that count? :-)

I'm in that area a lot for work. Used to be there 4-5 days a week when I covered an account in Bentonville...

Used to go through Centerton to avoid the traffic on 71/549/49/(whatever they will call it next).
