Hello all

Hi everyone,

I'm Ed. I hail from the Pacific Northwest (for now) and I am an electronics technician. I like to make electronics devices and work mainly in audio, but I also like making nice-looking wooden enclosures for my projects.

Right now I'm working on a case that I'll post design pictures of in a few days. I'm hoping it will become a repeatable design that I can reuse for many other designs.

I like working with vacuum tubes but of late have been dealing with transistors and silicon circuitry. I'm generally very agreeable and hard to offend, and if anyone has questions I'll be willing to answer them.

Ed

That is very good. Was that done with a CNC machine or something else?

More about my woodworking habits: I have a circular saw, jig saw, drill, and power sander, but I prefer to do everything by hand. I usually take the bulk out of the wood with a saw and then use a plane or chisel (or sometimes just a knife) to carve out the rest.

I'm by no means "good" yet but I believe only practice will get me there. I also don't think I'll get machine-accuracy joints by hand, but I may yet be surprised too.

I do use my drill on certain occasions. I prefer to drill pilot holes for screws and when possible I prefer to implement pegs and glue rather than metal fasteners. I do like the concept of having extremely sharp tools because it makes my work much easier than it was in the past.
