Hello to all

First off Let me Introduce my self, my name is Sergio and i live in the lone star state in a lil town called Houston. My interest in woodworking came from my love of kayaking and fishing (Hence my screen name Salty Dreams), I've seen these kayaks and canoes made of wood. Since i first layed eyes on the beautiful workmanship that is wood working and boat building I had an attraction to making something like that on my own.
I've been a machinist for almost 7 yrs now and I have a good idea on what in stored in the world of wood working at least i think I do. I think that saw dust wouldn't hurt as much as steel shaving burning my skin as it chips of the work piece.
I think furniture building would be a good start to my ultimate goal to building a kayak. I still need all the tools and all the advise i can get. Hopefully I can befriend ppl on this site and help through my trek. I would like to start by building something inexpensive like outdoor funitures like benches and lawnchairs. questions would be like what wood to use and what tools I need.

Thanks again
Salty Dreams,

ps. Your forum name is a bit disturbing until explained... even then still...
