Hello

Hello all. I'm actually very new to this hobby. Any suggestions on what to start out with? I really want to make a table or cabinet, but that may be too advanced for now.

Welcome to the forum.

Before we can give you any advise you should give us some background on what if any experience, type of tools you have etc. A location in your profile also helps in certain situations because different resources or available in every location. We have a lot of experienced members always looking to help we just need detailed questions and info in order to do that.

+2. What you may like or need might be a start. Your skills and tools would be an indicator on how involved a project you might want to attempt. Small boxes could be a good start. They involve wood preparation, cutting stock to fit, joinery, and finishing.

Welcome to the group! Have you already started your "tool collecting"?
If so, what do you have in your 'shop' already?
Where are you located and what are your interests?
All these questions will give the members somewhere to start you on your way in this wonderful, satisfying hobby.
Hope to hear from you soon, and again, welcome aboard!
Pete

If ALL else fails, go by the numbers...
#1) find the directions....
#2) If found, then read the directions....
#3) Then pray they make sense
