Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "bench hand joiner" and where is wigan?

I didn't realise this was a u.s. Forum when I registered, Wigan is in the north of England, bench hand is a workshop joiner as appose the site joiner/carpenter

Ah, well that explains it. We had a site joiner join up a few months ago and I had forgotten her explanation of the two types of joiners. Actually, those terms may be in use here in the US as well, but I'm not in construction and had not heard them before.
