Question hanging a ships wheel

Ive been searching all over for help on hanging a ships wheel on our wall... any suggestions??

Before hanging the ships wheel I would practice on the first mate. I am sure the captain will have something to say about that, if he does hang him too. Or start by making them walk the plank.... The ships wheel...is that like a big wig or the big kauhna?

Is the wheel made of lignum vitae? You can tell if it seems unusually heavy. If so I would recomend using brackets of some kind and NOT try to mount it directly through the wheel itself. I used to work in a ship yard and I know we repaired wheels and made shaft bearings from LV and trust me, unless you have access to a machine shop this wood is very difficult to work because of it's extream hardness.
