Hello everyone, I am an artist currently residing in New Jersey. I have been incorporating wood as the primary medium for my work for about a year now. Up to this point I've fared reasonably well by just learning what I can from basic instructional article/videos online. As I became more ambitious with the scale and complexity of my projects recently, I felt the lacking of basic knowledge and efficient hardware for working with wood material has became a hindrance. I am looking forward to exchange ideas with and learn from everyone.
Thank you! To your comment, my answer has to be yes and no. I am very comfortable at shaping materials once I get them to the size of a human hand; however the steps, at least in the case of wood material, between large cut boards or blocks from a lumber yard dealer to precisely cut pieces of the size I can easily work with, is where I lack both in experience and correct hardware; I also have a long way to go when it comes to finishing wood surfaces and joining wood pieces together precisely. For example I've first learnt about what jointer and planer are less than two weeks ago. Anyway just became a member today and excited to see what is to come in this community.
