Greetings from the great Northwest

Hi, all. My name is Ted and I'm (obviously) new to the site. Just a little background on my experience for y'all.

I've been a trim carpenter for nearly twenty years. I've worked on projects ranging from entry-level tract homes to multi-million dollar commercial projects. I started in the trades just installing particle-board underlayment for vinyl flooring. Found myself working next to some of the best finish carpenters you could hope to know (Bob, Dan, Rich, Pat... you know who you are). Every time I got the chance, I'd get the boss to let me work with them and glean whatever knowledge I could. Eventually, I worked my way into specializing in fireplace mantels and open stair systems. I'll post some pictures as soon as I locate them. When the bottom fell out of the real estate and construction industries in '08, I found myself looking for work. Eventually, I made the connection with Stancraft Wood Boats, Inc. I've been working there as a builder/restorer since May of '09 and I can't thank the folks there enough for the opportunities I've been provided with to grow professionally and expand my skill set. I honestly think the product we put out is second to none. Check us out at

Welcome from another Northwesterner. That looks like a dream job!!! How cool. Do you know if the company was on TV within the last year or so? I recall seeing something on History channel or TLC about a company very much like this and thought, WOW, would love to do that.

I built a wooden boat with my dad when I was in high school. Of course it was nothing like what you guys do, but I remember it well.
