Good day all...

Hi Folks,

Just found the site and registered. I'm a diy guy from NY who is stretching his wings with a few new projects. A gate at the top of my deck stairs, and a tree house.

welcome to the forum,
this is an open forum with all levels of skills and talents.
please feel free to join in the conversations that you find interesting
and ask questions to expand your skill levels and share what you know.
if you would like to know more about something, you can start a new thread.
we like to see photos of projects to share with others.
when addressing specific issues or concerns, sketches, drawings and photos
will get you the most accurate responses. (and we can all be on the same page).
when you get time, you can complete your profile through the "User CP"
with your location and whatever you want in your signature line that will
show in all your posts. looking forward to seeing some of your projects.

we would much rather see posts of: "How do I do this"
~ vs ~ "How can I FIX this" . . . .

hope you enjoy your stay.

.

there is no educational alternative to having a front row seat in the School of Hard Knocks.

Welcome to the forum! Add your first name to your signature line so we'll know what to call you and it will show in each post. Add your location to your profile, as well.

We do like photos so show us your shop, tools, projects - gate, tree house, etc. whenever you're ready.

By the way... here's the gate I'm currently working on. I have no idea why the pic is upside down, nor do I know how to fix it.

Here are some photo posting tips if you’re taking photos with your phone or iPad – the best way for proper orientation is to shoot landscape (widescreen). Rotate your phone or iPad CCW for proper orientation. If you want your photos to be portrait then open the photo in a viewer on your computer, rotate it to the orientation you want, then save it in that orientation. It will be correct when you upload it to the servers here. If you’re shooting video please shoot widescreen like our monitors, not portrait.

The best way to post photos in line with your text is to use Go Advanced below the Quick Reply window. If you’re starting a new thread then you’re automatically in the Advanced editor. Click on the Paper Clip on the ribbon bar and that will bring up a dialogue box where you can browse to your photos. Upload them and then put your cursor where you want a photo, hit the dropdown beside the Paper Clip, and choose the photo you want inserted. If you have several photos and just want them at the end of your text then put your cursor at the end and hit the Insert All on the dropdown list of photos.

Always post a photo rather than a link; most folks won't click on a link.

It's strange. I took the pic with my phone, had uploaded it to my google drive, and downloaded it to my computer. Everywhere I viewed it, the pic was right side up. I created an album on this site, uploaded the pic, and low and behold - upside down. I uploaded another pic to my album and that one was right side up. The only thing I can think of is that I'm a lefty and to that end I apparently hold my phone upside down when taking pics in landscape.
