G'day from Australia

I had a love of wood working when I was a child, using my dads jigsaw to cut out swords from timber planks, and then a plane to put a decent blade on it. Whenever they'd inevitably break on trees or my cousins swords, we'd go back to the shed and keep designing more and more intricate swords, burning patterns into the fuller, and eventually staining.

Since then I've only worked on small projects like bookshelves and walking sticks. But now I'm embarking upon the monumental project of building a table for Dungeons and Dragons. I had a few small ideas for the project but then I started looking on google image search for further inspiration and found a Poker Table by Jdurg that I'm going to base the design off of.

I took a further look around the forums and found quite a few great pieces, so I decided to join the forums and pick up any little tips that might come in handy building this.

Cheers everyone.

Rob, I'll be working on a "Man Cave" just before I tackle the desk, to get my skills back. But I will put my designs onto paper and scan them in as I work on the table.
