Hello all, I'm Bart from Jacksonville FL. I work for an interior design firm/retail furniture store. I'm a "background guy" for the company. I do project management and coordination, I also do custom interior paint design and faux finishes. I have been known to have my hands in everything from light electrical work to landscaping as well. We can accomdate just about anything the customer needs.
My father and uncle are both master craftsmen in the custom cabinet biz. Growing up (parents divorced when I was 5) I never really got the chance to work under either of them, but i have always had an intrest and natural instinct for woodcraft.
I have decided (convinced my wife to let me
) to convert our 2 car garage into a shop. We(she tinkers too) intend on doing design-build projects for local interior designers and private clients. I also will be doing furniture refinishing and resto.
I'm really into the "reclaimed" thing. I like stuff with history (old wood). I am by no means a "master"...more of a novice, I know just enough to get myself in trouble
...but thats why I'm here.
Hope to be able to learn from the more experienced people here and to share and compare ideas. Yes it's a "hobby" right now, but I intend on doing it for profit, and hope to make a nice little part time gig that I can enjoy,be proud of and maybe pass down to my kids.
Glad to be here!
