Needed some help, newbie

The forum should have like a sticky with the best guides for sketchup for woodworkers. That would be cool.

I am trying to make a shoe bench in sketchup, but its pretty hard.

I Need to make two boards and align them a certain distance. Aligning them is difficult, and I am so far trying to align them by eye by use of the move and orbit tools. Its a challenge and I never really know if they are spot on. Is there a better way to align stuff?

Also, is the cutlist plugin to connect the cutlist program with sketchup or is it stand-alone? I want to generate a sheet optimization cutlist of all the stuff.

Ive been hoping to try other programs like sketchlist or cutlist, but they don't run on mac and sketchlist doesn't run through WINE either.

Those programs look an aweful lot better, more effiecient, and in fact fun to use than sketchup..

Has anyone been able to use them on a mac?

Cheers

Don't really understand what your problem is. Aligning boards is pretty trivial. Perhaps you're not aware of how to set the view to front/top/side with the camera = parallel projection. When you do that, the move tool will let you put things exactly where you want them. Sometimes it's helpful to put a line where you want the object to end up and then move it to touch the line.

You can never have too much pepperoni on your pizza or own too many clamps.
