So, went into Sketchup 2017 to work up my next kitchen cabinet and the 30-day trial for 2017 Pro has expired. I had thought this older version was freely available. Any thoughts on how to proceed? Now that I am getting more comfortable with the program, I'm almost game to pay for it. What current version is best for woodworking without needlessly breaking the bank?

I think my download expired but it kept working. I just had to click on one of the buttons and it keeps working. It was a year or so ago but it still works. I just dont' use it enough to purchase it. I have bought so many CAD programs and I like drawing house plans and such in my younger days. I need to get it back out and work on it so I dont' forget how to use it.

I downloaded some of the videos on youtube on how to use it and review them if I need to remember how to do something. It's a great program yet it's pretty pricey for the hobby folk.

The version you have will continue to work as is. Not to worry about buying the full version.

Yep . . . I re-installed the 2017 and see no expiration dates now. I am so LOVING this program. Once you get used to the operational aspects of the program the designs, at least for the simple cabinets I'm making, are SO informative. I have caught many mistakes in my initial ideas of cabinet design well before i make any cuts. I even managed to build a corner wall cabinet and using the cutlist extension, made all the cuts and assembled a perfect set of cabs.

No, and be sure you download it from sketchup.com, not any of those bad aggregator websites. Download Sketchup 2017 Make here:

https://www.sketchup.com/download/all

Use it in trial mode for 30 days, and eventually it will revert to the free version. See my posts above.
