Which free version of Sketchup?

Hello everyone! I have looked around this thread and am impressed with wealth of information given freely, in regards to Sketchup. I was wondering though, if one was to download a free version of Sketchup, what version would you do? I realize that they, Trimble, need to promote their product, but the constant nagging to purchase can be very distracting. But the real question, at least for myself, which version is more robust, productive and bug free? Thanx to all who respond, in advance. Also, doing a Google, I've found versions 7, 7.1 and 8, I believe.

I'm using ver. 8. While it is not the newest, I have found no problems with it and it does everything I need it to. The newer(est) version I believe is now called Sketchup Make.

I'm not positive, but I seem to remember someone complaining about an opening (advert) screen with Make that you can't get rid of and always have to click to proceed to work in the program. Not really a big deal, especially for a free program, but I don't have that with ver 8, and have seen no compelling reason to update.

Thank you for your reply trc65. I have read some reviews concerning that about Sketchup Make. I've read that it also wasn't that much of an improvement worth giving up earlier versions. Thanx again!

I also use Google v.8 on Mac. So far I have had zero issues with Scetchup and I don't feel like I need something from Pro version.

Thank you for your responses maskmaker9 andkalin78. I will definately check out the web site. I used Sketchup way back when Google first offered it. I'm sure much has changed. Thanks again!
