cutting etc

Is it possible to replicate the following feature/capability in sketchup?

In most 3d cad programs I've used pro/e,solidworks,others, it is possible to say draw a 3d block and then draw a circle on that block and specify that you want say a 1" deep blind hole, and the program will essentially machine out the offending material.

How would I do this in sketchup?

Along a similar line, lets say I want to mill a channel out of that billet I drew previously. In most programs I would just draw a square on one side and say cut through.

Thanks much
B

draw the circle, then use the pushpull tool, push in the direction you want to create the hole, type 1" and thats it.

I don't mean to be insulting here, but are you going through the tutorials? I think that is covered in one of the very first basic tutorials.

Hey all, sorry. Did indeed go MIA there for a bit.

rrbrown, didn't have a chance to open your skp file but thanks for taking the time to post.

mics_54, that does indeed work. I had not been using that tool correctly. thanks

Willie T, not insulted, but no I haven't gone through the tutorials because I haven't really had any other issues producing what I want/need in sketchup.

thanks for the help all

Cutting in Sketchup

I think that you need to use the "push/pull" tool for this operation.
Draw your circle and place the p/pull tool in it push the circle down and release, then type depth and enter.
To make slot, draw outline on end of block and then using the p/pull tool push it right through and out other end.
Hope this helps.
Malc.
