ZebraWood progress - Oil is bad choice?
The first pic is barewood zebrawood. The 2nd is with faux Tung Oil Finish with indoor lighting. The 3rd is under sunlight.
This may be too yellow for me, which as I understand it, oil based finishes ambers wood. That wood's white contrast should be maintained.
My next zebrawood project will use ebony timbermate filler, sealcoat, and then Satin HIGH PERFORMANCE WATER BASED TOPCOAT. As Steve Neul mentioned many times, water based does not yellow and this has a bonus UV blockers.
My concern is this - will this look plastic, vs oil rubbed look? Or this GF is higher quality over poly.
And will ebony filler discolor the lighter grains, although this is dense oily wood?
